Spotlight Photography is the most sought after photography studio in central Indiana. Established in 1985 on several acres of property, Spotlight has been turned into a beautiful park like setting over the years. With gazebos, arbors, fences and doorways along with decorative grasses reaching 12 feet high and beautiful mature trees. There is a fishing dock and beach as well as a Japanese bridge, tire swing and plenty of woods. Pets are always welcome here and if you have horses, we can accommodate you with our acreage and big 2 story horse barn. We are the perfect choice for family groups and kids will love exploring all the wonderful nooks and crannies this property has to offer.
My name is Mark Watson and when I was a small boy I picked up my first camera, a 120 Kodak Instamantic. It seems I couldn't stop taking pictures. When I graduated from Brebeuf my parents graduation gift to me was a Mamiya DTL 100 SLR camera. I had never been so excited to have such a professional looking camera. I continued to point it at family and friends and while many of the photos were too light or too dark, poorly composed or just downright bad, today all those photos are priceless. In 1977 I got my first photography job with Photo Corp, of America, photographing children and families in discount stores. Long lines literally formed out the door. After PCA I found myself with Olan Mills, The Nations Studio. I learned more about proper lighting and posing. In 1985 started Spotlight Photography and that was my introduction to the medium format Hasselblad camera system. Instead of a wall with a backdrop, I suddenly had over 2 acres in which to photograph. In 2005 Canon USA introduced and offered to me, at no charge, an EOS 1Ds Mark II. I had never used an $8000 camera body before but I was immediately hooked on digital. All of a sudden I realized that I needed to learn about computers, software, color management, color profiles, what a JPEG was and Raw conversion. I didn't even know how to create a file on a desktop, thinking that a desktop was the top of a desk. Whether it's new technology or a new client, I am always learning.
Photography has been a part of me for many many years. It is always with me, holidays, vacations, my children's milestones and so much more. Everything I look at appears as a photograph to me. I can 'see the light' like the old masters from centuries before. It is not a hobby or something I dable in.
Photography is a full time passion.
